Director of Education,
Deirdre Fitzpatrick currently works as the Director of Education for the National Children’s Communication Charity - I CAN. The charity runs two outstanding special schools, and develops policy, training and resources to improve child communication in schools and the community. Deirdre is also a school improvement advisor for 17 Special Schools, an Ofsted inspector, and DfE expert advisor. She has set up a number of Free Schools and through the Regional Commissioners Office, given support to schools in challenging circumstances. She has been a National Leader in Education and Headteacher of an Outstanding Special School. The school won the overall award for TES school of the year in 2015. Prior to becoming a Headteacher she was the Local Authority Senior Advisor for mainstream secondary and Special Schools. Deirdre lives at home in Swindon, Wiltshire, with her husband, an Educational Consultant, Author and youtuber. She has two children, one training to be a teacher and the other an engineer. She also has a very ageing dog, Bob!
