Inclusion is at the core of Esther’s purpose as a leader and educator; she has expertise in improving outcomes for disadvantaged students and those with special educational needs. In her current roles, as the MAT Inclusion Lead, & Deputy Headteacher at a large secondary school, Esther is accountable for the quality of SEND provision, education and outcomes. She works in a school context where the numbers of students who are either looked after, previously looked after or have an EHCP are significantly higher than national averages. Esther is in her fifteenth year of teaching Religious Studies, Philosophy and Sociology. Classroom teaching continues to be her favourite thing to do and so she is always interested in thinking how leaders can make decisions to support teachers.
